Alongside anti-mulled wine and cookies, we’re serving one of the greatest European Christmas horror films of all time—celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.

In Álex de la Iglesia’s devilish horror-comedy THE DAY OF THE BEAST, a Catholic priest must turn sinner to prevent the birth of the Antichrist on Christmas Day of all days. On his madcap journey through Madrid, he finds unlikely allies in a Black Metal devotee and an Italian TV occultist. De la Iglesia’s brilliant blend of horror and comedy became both a critical and box office hit in Spain in 1995—and has long since achieved cult status at home and beyond.
