A man carrying an oversized insect doll through a karst landscape, accompanied by a fragmentary chat transcript in a somnambulistic soundscape – after a few minutes, this is how one thinks the film EPIGONIA can be characterised in keywords. And yet, in all its casualness and monotony, a strangely gripping, floating aesthetic experience emerges over time. Giving up the usual compulsion to ask for purpose, reason, goal and meaning, one is immersed in a state of general coming and going, and thus becomes part of the film to a certain extent. Away from the question of where from and where to, one drifts in the stream of impressions that pass by outside and inside, standing in the midst of the protagonists – man, insect puppet, chat, music and landscape. Carrying and being carried.
