DER UNTERGANG DES ALPENLANDES is an Austrian short film and a satire on the ”Heimatfilm“-genre films which has gained cult-status. The same is true of Pirchner’s music which plays an important role in the film. (Letterboxd)

Werner Pirchner (*1940 Hall in Tirol; † 2001 in Innsbruck) was an Austrian composer and jazz musician. In Austria Pirchner was well-known, since he composed the Sounddesign for the ORF culture radio Ö1 in 1994. 1995–2001 he composed the music for Hofmannsthals Jedermann at the Salzburger Festspiele.

Christian Berger (*1945 Steiermark) is cinematographer (Oscar Nominee 2010 Cinematography for THE WHITE RIBBON), director, producer and writer of numerous documentaries, made-for-TV films and features. Cinematographer for such renowned directors as Michael Haneke, Luc Bondy, Wolfgang Glück, Stephen Gaghan, Amos Gitai, Peter Sehr and Marie-Noèlle, János Szász, Angelina Jolie, Virgil Widrich, Terrence Malick. He grew up in Lans/Innsbruck and is now living in Vienna.

Moderation: Roberta Hofer (*1986 Tirol) is a journalist for the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation ORF. Before that, she taught English at the Department of American Studies at the University of Innsbruck where she also researched and published on film studies. In the past, she also did freelance work as a journalist for Freirad, das freie Radio Innsbruck and for Jungösterreich Verlag where she created and produced English songs and teaching materials for kids.
